What To Expect
CPA’s Leadership and Advocacy Conference (LAC) trains psychologists and graduate students in the elements of CPA’s advocacy program. The conference is especially for Chapter Presidents, Division Chairs, and Local Advocacy Network (LAN) reps to bring back to their chapter or division
Who Should Attend?
For the Monday session, each chapter and division is asked to send their President/Chair and their Local Advocacy Network (formerly GAC) Representative. CPA will cover conference fee, food and partial lodging expenses for both of the individuals that chapters and divisions send (2 participants per chapter/division). Attendees who are not designated by their chapter or division will be responsible for their own lodging and pay a $150 conference fee.
Registration and Check-in
Registration will be closed on Wednesday, February 24th.
Check-in starts at 8:00 am on Monday March 7th at the Citizen Hotel. The program will start at 10:00 am. Monday will focus on chapter advocacy training and Tuesday we will lobby our state legislators.
Where Will the Event Take Place?
The Citizen Hotel, 926 J Street, Sacramento CA 95814 just blocks away from the Capitol Building.
Monday will start with a continental breakfast and lunch, provided by CPA and Division I. Dinner will be on your own that evening, but CPA will provide a list of restaurants within walking distance to the hotel. Tuesday will include a continental breakfast and lunch for all attendees. CPA is unable to reimburse you for any meals eaten outside of these events.
CPA and Division I will reimburse qualified LAC participants for half of the cost of a room at CPA's special rate of $158/night +taxes. You will be reimbursed approximately $88, which means if you have a roommate for the duration of your stay, your entire cost will be covered. If you have a private room your total cost will be $158 +taxes. CPA will reimburse you approximately $88 resulting in a cost of $88 to you. No additional reimbursements will be made. You are responsible for booking your own hotel room. Book your room early – this special rate ends when all the rooms sell out or on February 17, 2016 (whichever occurs first).
LAC events will begin Monday at 9:00 am and end Tuesday 5:00 pm. Attendees are responsible for their own travel arrangements.
Southwest Airlines offers direct service to Sacramento from Burbank, Los Angeles, Ontario, Orange County and San Diego.
CPA and Division I have arranged for a discounted rate at the Citizen Hotel in Downtown Sacramento at $158/night +taxes. The hotel can be reached at (916) 447-2700. This will be the most convenient option as the meeting space is also in the Citizen Hotel this year. Only one lodging night (Monday) is required this year.

Transportation From Airport
Supershuttle, taxis, and Uber/Lyft car service are available outside of the airport’s two terminals and cost approximately $20+ one-way between the airport and downtown Sacramento.
CPA is not able to reimburse for ground transportation to or from the airport.
