Dear 2015 LAD attendees,

With less than two weeks left before this year’s Leadership and Advocacy Day, we wanted to send out a preview of the information we’ll be discussing on Tuesday March 24th – plus some helpful reminders. We highly recommend that all attendees read through all these materials before coming to Sacramento.

Conference Call Information:

NEW THIS YEAR! CPA will be hosting two conference calls on March 17th (morning) and March 19th (evening) to discuss LAD information. These call are designed for first-time LAD attendees, but are recommended and open to all. The calls will have the same content, but are being offered at two separate times for your convenience. There is no need to RSVP for the call.

Important Information:

  • CPA Distressed Constituents Guide: This is an instructive guide for elected officials and their staff on how to handle communications with distressed constituents. We will be giving these to legislators during our meetings.
  • Psychologically Healthy Workplace Award: This award is part of a national program that recognizes organizations of all types that implement programs and policies that foster employee health and well-being while enhancing organizational performance. We will be asking legislators to nominate constituents from their district if they think they know of such businesses.
  • Find your legislator: unsure who your legislator is? Take a minute before the conference to look up your State Assemblymember and Senator with the “Find Your California Representative” tool (note: please use the address you provided to CPA).

Please remember that you are responsible for your own travel arrangements. The Citizen Hotel is located at 926 J Street, Sacramento, CA 95814.

Please plan to stay the entire day. We will start the day at 8:00 am with registration and a continental breakfast at the Citizen Hotel, the program will start promptly at 9:00 am. We provide full lobbying training. Lunch will be provided by CPA before you head to the Capitol to meet with legislators and their staff. The day will conclude with meetings with legislators and their staff in the Capitol and will finish at 5:00 pm.

Valet parking at the hotel is available $10 dollars for the day. There are also various city lots scattered around the area for $20 per day. City Hall Garage is conveniently located at 10th and I Street and costs $20 per day.

Please remember to dress in business attire, and bring business cards and a camera.
