Professional Practice Consultations
CPA members can access free personal and confidential consultation on professional practice issues. If you are not a CPA member, you may join here.
Professional practice consultations provide members with information and resources to help them address issues related to record-keeping, confidentiality, mandated reporting of child abuse, the duty to protect and other standards of professional conduct. The format of a professional practice consultation involves an educative and collaborative process that supports decision-making consistent with applicable laws and regulations as well as other sources of professional guidance. When appropriate, referrals are provided for additional consultation, such as with a private attorney.
CPA is here to help you and we welcome requests for consultations. We do our best to respond quickly, generally within 24 hours or the next business day. To request a consultation, please contact CPA’s Director of Professional Affairs, Elizabeth Winkelman, JD, PhD at (916) 286-7979, x119 or email@example.com.
Dr. Winkelman joined the CPA staff in January, 2016. From 2014 to 2015, Dr. Winkelman worked as a Practice and Risk Management Consultant for The Trust. From 2005 to 2013, she worked at the American Psychological Association, where she most recently served as Director of Legal and Professional Affairs. She also served as an APA Congressional Fellow in the Office of Senator Jack Reed from 2004 to 2005. Dr. Winkelman completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the American Institute for Cognitive Therapy and had an independent psychology practice in New York City.
