Substance Use Prevention with Culture as an Intervention
(Live Webinar)

Wednesday, October 16, 2024
12:00 pm - 1:00 pm (PT)

Gabrielle Jones, PhD – Instructor

Course Description:
This course will utilize the Culturally Responsive Substance Use Treatment (CRST) Framework to illustrate the significance of incorporating aspects of an individual’s culture and identities into substance use prevention and treatment. Marginalized and Minoritized communities are disproportionately impacted by substance use; taking a preventative approach that is culturally responsive can significantly improve outcomes for these communities and reduce disparities. Participants will develop a shared language that can be used to describe cultural responsiveness and obtain an understanding of the CRST framework in the context of substance use prevention.

Level:
Introductory

After attending this webinar, attendees will be able to:
  1. Articulate cultural responsiveness in a clear and concise manner, as described in the Culturally Responsive Substance Use Treatment (CRST) Framework.
  2. Identify one factor that hinders prevention efforts for diverse populations.
  3. Describe one culturally responsive prevention technique.
