Qualifications

Full Member (Digital, Standard, or Premium)

CPA members must (1) hold a Doctorate in Psychology, or (2) be licensed as a psychologist in the State of California, or (3) be a Diplomat of the American Board of Professional Psychology. (For the purposes of determining CPA member status, Licensed Educational Psychologists are accepted on the same basis as Licensed Psychologists.)

Student Member

Student membership is available to individuals enrolled in a doctoral psychology program or engaged in a post-doctoral training program.

Associate/Affiliate Member

An associate or affiliate member holds a master’s degree in psychology or a related discipline or is an individual with an interest in psychology who wants to be affiliated with CPA. Associate/affiliate members shall have all the rights and privileges of CPA membership with the exception that they may not (1) vote (2) hold an elected office at CPA or a CPA Division (3) serve on a CPA or CPA Division committee (4) request consultations from the Director of Professional Affairs or the CPA Ethics Committee, or (5) participate in the CPA Locator Service. If you qualify as a Full Member you do not qualify as an Associate/Affiliate member.

Membership Dues and Pricing

Membership is on a calendar year (expiring December 31st each year). If you are joining/renewing prior to October 1st, the dues will be applied to the current year. If you are joining/renewing between October and December, the dues will be applied to the following year. Any membership cancelled after payment is received will be charged a $50 fee ($25 for students).
